Yeah, this is sort of the way
Why is it that Leif and Animal Crossing Items Kicks just ever visit? Why does the Museum just have description plaques for art today? What is up with the public works items that didn’t get turned into furniture? No Gyroids to collect? It is just a lot of small things that really accumulate into big things.
And it’s especially true for a string that is iterative for the most part. Good features from past games are nearly always brought to later games. The main exceptions are gimmicks depending on the console or smallish characteristics that are awesome but ultimately not game changing. NH ditched a great deal of series staples which really hurts in the event that you’ve been a long time lover. I believe a lot of the NH fans have not played the previous games so they don’t have these attributes to miss. That great for them but it feels hollow to me.
Yeah, this is sort of the way I’ve been looking at it recently. Much like, yes it introduced a few really great new thoughts from the way of outdoor decorating (which very much feels like the natural next step for the series) and the landscaping tools. The crafting system is a pretty nifty way to provide players kind of mini-goals. Not perfect but it is a fantastic idea.
But the pile of missing features and Cheap Nook Miles Ticket content is actually frustrating. I understand nobody wants to compare this into Pokemon (since Sword/Shield have a good deal of different problems past missing Pokemon and will cut features more frequently ) but Animal Crossing is a string that has historically had almost all of it’s items/collectibles and features carried forward in some capacity. Even little things like obtaining a reward for saving X amount of money in the bank are directly up dropped.
