What is Basin Faucets?

Basin faucet is often a central design element of any bathroom or kitchen, both visually and functionally. Therefore, when designing a bathroom, it is important to understand various considerations and options when it comes to faucets.

There are several types of mounts for faucets – the biggest driver being the number of holes and space between the holes drilled in your vanity top (or in the wall, if you choose a wall-mount faucet). This is important to nail down early in any project.

If you are working with an existing vanity or vanity top, you’ll need to make sure the faucet works with those pieces. Or, if you are working with a new vanity and/or vanity top, you’ll need to know what size hole(s) to have drilled in the vanity top or what type of pre-drilled vanity to purchase.

For the most part, faucet shape is a design element, so you should pick what you like! However, there are some practical considerations. If you have a vessel sink, you’ll likely want a taller faucet to account for the added height of the sink. If you have a smaller space or vanity, you may want a smaller, low-profile faucet that does not take up too much space. For my recent bathroom renovation, I wanted something that was a little more of an elegant statement, so I went with something taller with a widespread mount.

The metal finish of your faucet is also a design element. If you’re only doing a partial bathroom renovation, consider the finishes of the other hardware in your bathroom (such as the shower/bath faucet, any knobs or handles on the vanity, etc). Most people tend to have the majority of these fixtures, if not all of them, match. However, a recent trend has been to mix a couple of finishes – maybe a lighter / brighter finish on certain elements and a darker finish on other elements to ground it out.

No matter what you choose, be sure the shower faucets fits your style, functions well with your fixture, and is exactly what you want.
