Tap Filter & Shower Filter Must Contain Enough Carbon to Be Effective
Water sources may be contaminated with bacteria, heavy metals, and other pollutants. Tap Filter & Shower Filter(KOKOELECTRIC) are common methods of water filtration and are available in a variety of types. The charcoal filter can be mounted on a faucet for use in a sink in a kitchen or bathroom, or on a shower for use in a bathroom. The carbon of the filter comes from charcoal and these terms are used interchangeably. Carbon filters solve some water problems but can cause other problems.
According to North Carolina State University, carbon filters help remove organic compounds that degrade water and odor. A disadvantage of carbon filters is that they do not filter out heavy metals, fluorides, bacteria or microorganisms that may be present in the water. According to the Environmental Working Group, there are more than 300 pollutants in tap water in the United States. According to environmental disease resources, the fact that carbon filters have a short service life and need to be replaced frequently exacerbates this problem.
According to North Carolina State University, in order for a carbon filter to be practical, the filter must contain enough carbon to be effective. Otherwise, the filter will not remove contaminants from the water.
Another problem with carbon filtration is the effective time of the water that needs to be in contact with the filter. The longer the water stays in the carbon filter, the better the filtration. Most countertop carbon filter units do not allow the water filter to have sufficient time to effectively remove impurities.
The life cycle of each filter element depends on the size and type of carbon unit. The service period can be assessed by the number of gallons or months used. Either way, it is important to periodically change the filter to ensure proper water filtration.
