RuneScape moving to monthly upgrades

I don’t know OSRS gold exactly what they are but they’re at least likely to include writing a launcher that can work through steam. Steam distributes upgrades for games on the stage so again you need to get a way to get the update through 2 channels at precisely the same time. Not impossible jobs although not 5 minute types either. And you have to ask, what would it perform? Runescape’s problem isn’t that people haven’t heard of RuneScape – it’s that people do not want to play with it. Even people who have never played an MMORPG in their lifetime have heard of runescape.

The problem is getting them to play, would being on matters like steam help that? But it’s not certain. Steam has games with their launchers, although I might be speaking out of my bum. The RuneScape customer has its own launcher without a user interface that is fancy. They’d just need to get the wrapper on steam/epic, which would just need to be updated when there are significant client updates in which you need to redownload it in the website (which does not occur often, right?). Not sure how they’d manage revenue sharing. All RuneScape purchases are currently done through a weblink and not in RuneScape game, but they might mplement a steam store.

Yep plenty of steam games have their launchers but from what I’ve seen they still handle upgrades via steam rather than through the launcher itself. Which means every week they would be pushing updates through steam in addition to via Apple, android and the present desktop client.

Ohh and valve would like you to add steam wallet as an option even in link shops. And any in RuneScape game purchases need to be locked so that a player accessing through steam can simply pay via steam. They want their cash, you can not blame them but it is full of negatives from jagex’s view. You also have the update process generally, I do not understand what kind of lead time steam need with upgrades being pushed and if that would work with how frequently RS is updated. Many, many mmos have their own launcher, and steam updates update the launcher. FF14 comes to mind as a huge case. The launcher is kept by steam up to date, the launcher patches RuneScape, entirely outside of steam.

How do you understand this? Surely you must not be so delusional to believe that your armchair understanding is exceptional to Jagex, a company with hundreds of employees who would have considered the prospect of starting on Steam + already done a comprehensive cost-profit analysis. This is a company that is gaining record profits while using a dwindling player foundation (RS3). Being a company does not mean you’re unexpectedly god when it comes to those choices. They did not even contemplate OSRS until gamers started petitioning and complaining about it, and that was be a success.

I guess they must not realized it was even though people were begging since the release of EoC for it. Sure, they don’t necessarily know. However, as it stands, the arguments provided for launching RS3 on Steam are not and laughable even remotely legitimate. My point isn’t that Jagex is all-knowing and could be relied on to make the right decisions. It’s that a lot of players create radical suggestions without contemplating the picture.
