Animal Crossing: On Treasure Island you can really buy anything

More and more New Horizons players are opening their own Treasure Island. In limited time intervals you can stuff your pockets. However, this costs money.

Anyone who has ever built their own home in Animal Crossing: New Horizons knows how many individual furnishing styles there are. It becomes particularly annoying when it comes to decoration when a rare, very specific item is missing. On the other hand, players now have the right solution – but you have to have your wallet ready for this. And by that we don’t mean your bells.

Treasure Island are Animal Crossing’s flea markets

What are Treasure Islands? More and more players are opening up so-called Treasure Islands. For a small fee it is possible to put all the items available on the island in your own pocket. The range of items varies from island to island. Some islands even have residents you can talk to so they can move to your island.

What kind of AC New Horizons items are offered? On platforms such as Etsy and ebay, as in shopping centers, the sellers show on colorful cards in which areas the items are located. Mostly these are items that can only be obtained seasonally or are very rare.

To enter such an island, you have to pay real money. Once the seller has received your payment, he will send you the appropriate code to get to the island. Sometimes it is even possible to win a visit to such an island:

Visit for a small fee

Depending on the price, for example, the duration or the number of visits is limited. Since the inventory in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is limited to 20-40 spaces, those interested have to think carefully about which items and other ACNH furniture they want to take with them from Treasure Island. An empty inventory is therefore mandatory when visiting the island.

So if you want to visit an island more often, you have to pay a higher amount. The sellers get the items through different methods. Some only use time travel, for example to get seasonal items. Others use glitches to multiply the items or other dubious methods to get the items.

Violation of Nintendo’s guidelines

Nintendo shouldn’t like that. The guidelines state that players are not allowed to make a profit with the content of Nintendo’s games. It remains to be seen whether and how the company will tackle the sellers.

Does that sound familiar to you? Shortly after the release, such offers were posted on social media. However, those responsible at the time limited themselves to only asking for the in-game currency bells instead of real money. Our author Finja explains why players are willing to pay the exorbitant prices.

What do you think of such offers? Do they make sense or do they do more harm than good?
