An invisible shelf for storing books and decorating a wall with a small design is a lot easier than you think.

How to create an invisible shelf for books

First of all, you need to choose a book that you no longer want to read. It will be the so-called “Sacrifice” book that will form the shelf. Since this “sacrifice” book will support other books, it is better to use a large book that has a fairly rigid cover. At this point, as mentioned earlier, you need to draw an “L” shaped profile for the bracket on the back of the book. To do all this you need to open the back of the book “Sacrifice” and with the help of a tape measure find the central point and you need to mark it. Now place the flat side of the “L” bracket on the side. Then you need to mark the contour with the previously marked guide points to keep it centered. If the holes in the bracket are also centered, you’ll need to align them with the guide points to make this process easier for you.

Now you need to get yourself a cutter, so cut off the inside of the book and follow the outline of your bracket. You need to make sure you cut deep, that is, the back cover can be closed tightly against the sides after inserting the bracket. You can then recycle the removed card. Now insert the “L” shaped bracket into the recess, and you need to make sure that the vertical bar “L” is facing towards the front cover of the book. Now make a hole at the top of the book. In this way the book can be placed level with the wall.

Just a few steps are missing and you have your shelf ready, don’t be discouraged! Take the drill and drill the holes through the holes in the L-shaped bracket. Then *** this bracket into the book. You’ll see that this way the sides will come back up if you put the screws in right away. Use your hands to keep the sides low. Now you need to adjust the pages so that the book is completely flat. Always secure the sides by inserting the screws into the holes. Then you have to cover the lower cover of the book with the glue, and finally you can close it again. At this point you need to put a weight down and let it dry for at least 8/12 hours. Attach the brackets to the wall with large wood screws. First *** the shelf together with a single ***, then put a level along the book to keep the shelf level. Finally, you need to secure the shelf with a second ***. At this point you can put your books on the shelf. In order to hide the “L” -shaped staples on top, it is usually preferable that the larger book is preferred over the smaller one.
