According to Blizzard, the narrative of on PC, Xbox Certainly, and PS4 Diablo 4 will be relatively tough. In other words, expect Blizzard to wager on narrative more and more as the Diablo series brings and proceeds back an increasing number of characters.

“Diablo IV is similar to the very first chapter of a publication,” said art director John Mueller while speaking to Ausgamer. “We want to tell a large story and we would like to tell that, hopefully, for a very long time. Treating this like the very first chapter of Lilith and a publication as a character in this story, it feels great knowing that there are still these other characters that could come back later on. Or, new personalities we haven’t seen before.”

Of course, the Diablo series isn’t just known for its narrative. To put it differently, I wouldn’t expect it to have an award-winning narrative any time soon, but it seems like Blizzard wants to payback fans who stick with the series installment with a storyline that will unfold over time. And considering that it has done this with IP, that’s not so surprising.

Diablo 4 is in development for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Presumably the game is coming to consoles, although there’s been no word about any additional vents.
